Have you ever wondered why transferring funds is such a tricky and complex process even at times when you use the mobile app issued by your bank?
Nowadays, as the transfer of funds has become an integral part of each person’s daily life, it’s important to make this process as straightforward and simple as possible. Today, we’ll explain how to top-up your VIALET account, so you can send and receive funds easily and without unnecessary operations.
We all know that several options are always better than one. Therefore, when it comes to topping-up your VIALET account, there are three main ways to do it:
- by card
- by bank transfer
- by requesting funds
All you need to do is select the one that is most suitable for your needs.
However, before we begin, you have to remember that:
VIALET only operates in Euros, therefore, you have to check if your bank can convert other currencies to Euros before topping-up your VIALET account. Currently, currency exchange is not provided in the app – you won’t be able to convert Euros to US dollars or any other currency before the transfer.
To top up your VIALET account, click the “Top up”button in your account and choose the option for the transfer. Now, let’s dive into more detail about the VIALET account topping-up options.
Top-up by card
VIALET supports Mastercard, Visa, and Visa Electron cards. To top-up your VIALET account, start with scanning your card or adding its details in the app, including the 16-digit card number, expiry date, and CVC/CVV code. Make sure that the data is correct before you submit it.
Next, click the “Top up” button in the app, enter the amount (in Euros) you want to transfer to your account, confirm it, and the top-up will appear in your VIALET account’s balance in the blink of an eye.
Note: Keep in mind that the minimum amount to top-up your VIALET account is 10 Euros.
To make it all even sweeter – you can add as many cards to your VIALET account as you like. And when you need a repeated top-up from a card you’ve previously used, you won’t have to fill in all the data again. It will be saved in the app and at your disposal when necessary.
Top-up by bank transfer
By using VIALET, you get a personal IBAN number that you can find in the app by tapping the section “More” and opening “Your Account”.
What’s an IBAN number and why you need it?
The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is your account number written in a standard, internationally recognized format, which makes your international payments faster, safer, and cheaper. When you’ve downloaded the VIALET app, you can get your free IBAN in 3 minutes.
You can use your personal VIALET IBAN to send funds in Euros as SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) payments – cross-border Euro bank transfers within the EU and a few other countries which also support Euro bank transfers.
Now, to send funds – log into your regular bank account and start a new international SEPA payment. Then, add your VIALET account details, enter the amount you want to transfer, and confirm the transaction. It’s that easy.
Since your account is stored in the Central Bank of Lithuania, all transfers to accounts outside of Lithuania will be international SEPA payments. In other words, make sure that you select an international payment before sending the funds. (Don’t worry – it won’t cost a thing.)
As mentioned before, you can only make SEPA payments. All SWIFT transfers – international transfers sent via the SWIFT international payment network – to your VIALET account will be rejected.
Top-up by requesting funds
We all have those days when we forget our wallets at home. With VIALET, you won’t have to starve during your lunch break – just ask your friend, colleague, or side-kick to buy you lunch and send him or her money instantly.
Tap “Send” or “Request” on your VIALET app home screen if you wish to send or receive funds from one of your contacts. In the app, open the contact list, select the person who has a small VIALET icon next to them – that means the person is using the app – and enter the amount to make the request or to forward it.
If your friend is not using the app, the request will be sent as an invitation to join VIALET.
Just make sure that his/her phone number on your device has a country code, otherwise, the money won’t go anywhere. The app will automatically save the data from this particular user for future transactions.
There are no fees for sending and receiving funds in VIALET, but again – remember that we only support card to card payments (or P2P payments) in Euros via SEPA.
Another thing to bear in mind: when you send money from your bank account to someone’s VIALET IBAN, the receiver has to be a contact in your phone book. So, add the person to your contacts, then select him/her from the list to send the funds.
At the moment, we don’t support cash top-ups. That being said, you can withdraw cash from ATMs whenever you need it. You can check the applied fees here.
So, there you have it – the three main ways to top-up your VIALET account.
What can we learn from this? That it’s great to have options and solutions to choose from. For example, why should you waste time waiting in line at your local bank to send or receive money? Or use mobile apps that are difficult to understand when you can open a VIALET account in minutes and send and receive funds in seconds? Just add your card, use a bank transfer, or send a request – it’s that simple.
In conclusion, you need to remember that time is money, and we believe that your money is your business. That’s the reason why we want to welcome you in the 21st century of payment cards – when you can have it all in just one tap.
Open your VIALET account and join the era of easy and effortless money transactions!
